Cashmere is not environmentally friendly and many people are allergic. Alpaca is sustainably sourced, easy on the environment, and hypoallergenic. Its fibers are also longer, and is less likely to pill. It even traps and releases heat, since it’s a smart fiber.
This product is made by the same company as the Reversible throw. The designer and owner of the business, Alicia Adams, raises and manages its own herd of over 200 suri alpacas at the family farm in New York’s Hudson Valley. The farm is comprised of 80 acres of rolling meadows, dense woods and beautiful ponds, and is also home to her family.
They specialize in the design and production of textiles and clothing utilizing the natural and sustainable characteristics of one of the rarest and most luxurious materials – alpaca wool.
The products are manufactured in the United States and in Peru utilizing the incredible handiwork of local artisans who continue the pre-Incan tradition of working alpaca fibers. In an effort to give back to them, the designer actively supports artisan families and their communities.
