Wondering What Things To Do in London This May?

This month holds within it a buffet of sights to be seen, experiences for the senses, and pleasures to be immersed in. We’ve cherry-picked a variety of events, pleasingly arranged by category so that you don’t miss out on this wonderful time of year.

A Feast For the Senses:

  • The RHS Chelsea Flower Show: 24 – 28 May

This year’s theme is wild and natural spaces and over and above the breathtaking horticultural displays, Almost Essential is proud to say that a particular garden designer whom we have featured for the past seven years will be making a first main avenue appearance. With 26 years’ experience, Richard Miers’s “Perennial Garden, With Love” echoes Richard’s belief that gardens are a gift of love, between those who create and nurture them and those who visit and enjoy them.

A Sporting Do:

For the thrill seeking set, don’t miss the exhilarating opportunity to watch athletes compete in London at the world’s first electric scooter racing series.

Whether you go to Wembley Stadium or your favourite pub, join in the cheer and competitive spirit of the nation’s most beloved sport.

  • The Women’s FA Cup Final: 15 May

This is the biggest event on the women’s football calendar and is sure to be an absolute thrill to watch, either at Wembley or in your favourite pub with the girls.

Theatre, Food for the Soul

  • My Fair Lady: From 7 May

A captivating musical that lifts the spirit as you follow Eliza Doolittle’s journey to high society.

  • Life of Pi: Currently playing

It’s an epic journey bound together by a mesmerising story of strength, told through the innovative medium of puppetry and effects.

  • Legally Blonde: 13 May – 2 July

There’s something unique about Hollywood movies brought to life on the stage, especially one as popular as Legally Blonde that comes to you at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre.

Bring the Whole Family for Half-Term

Of course, there’s so much more happening in May that you won’t want to miss. This is but a snapshot and if you’re not sure where to start, then let Michelle and her team put you in touch with trusted experts who can help plan your social calendar.

Welcome Spring In With A Little Soirée

As the temperature warms up, delighting all Britons, we find ourselves with the perfect opportunity to use our gardens for an enchanting spring soirée. We highly recommend entrusting your party plans to Tom – true “Bon vivant”. From personal experience, we know that Tom and his team will stop at nothing to bring your vision to life.

While you’re imagining all the different ways make your party a spring-filled spectacular affair, don’t forget that we can put you in touch with Beth, the Queen of the Canapés who provides tasty and varied components that come together in the form of a delectable feast.

Not to mention the oh-so talented James Sayer, whom Michelle discovered at a dear friend’s party. His obvious talent as a pianist and singer instantly elevated the mood of the guests, welcoming them in and scoring the event with all the social conviviality needed to make your party a success.

This is also the ideal opportunity to engage the Royal Photographer, Ian Jones, whose repertoire includes state occasions, major public and private royal occasions, as well as bridal and family portraiture, and special parties that enable him to capture precious times.
